Vacation Dominican Republic. Everywhere, Always a Smile. I think the secret is the way they live. Simply laughing most of the time. Not to say everyone is perfect, but here on the Northeast coast of the Dominican Republic in Sosua, Encuentro, and Cabarete, you will find people enjoying their life. It’s safe and lovely no matter where you go. Even at the supermarket, they bag your groceries (when was the last time that happened?) Moreover, they take your groceries to your car or taxi with a big smile. A tip of 100 pesos (2 dollars) makes them smile even more.
This is the kind of attitude you will find everywhere you go. We recommend having our Concierges recommend a private driver to take you around to the various fun excursions in the Dominican Republic. Renting a car is OK. But, it’s tricky. When you decide to take an affordable vacation in the Dominican Republic there is so much to see and do. For example. Monkey Jungle is only 20 minutes from Swell Residences in Playa Encuentro in Cabarete. Imagine going to a place where everyone is smiling and having a blast with Squirrel Monkeys.
Monkey Jungle is an absolute blast. Click!
I have been there many times with groups and never get tired of it. 20 minutes from Cabarete. Furthermore, they donate most of the fees to care for the rescued monkeys (yes there is such a thing known as animal trafficking.) And they also donate to the Eco Community of Local Families. It will take 90 minutes and you and/or your family will love it. Guaranteed.

… but to find a GREAT sushi restaurant in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, welcome to Yamazoto. One of my favorites. Small with a small menu but everything is VERY special. I lived in Japan and the Gyoza for an appetizer is amazing. All of their fish is flown in daily from Japan. Closed between 2-5 PM … just like in Japan. https://www.facebook.com/YamazatoCabarete/menu/?ref=page_internal
I guess I am a Sushi addict, but there are so many great restaurants here, and I’ll fill you in on other Sushi Restaurants in the Dominican Republic as time goes on. If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram we’ll post some short clips in real time. I’ve heard great things about Sushi here at Mesa. Maybe I”’ try today!

Well, despite what you may have heard about the Dominican Republic, it is one of the most interesting and kindest places to stay in the Caribbean. And so many things to do and see! Everywhere…’Always a Smile. Originally named Hispaniola (the root of the word “Hispanic”.)
Hispaniola is the site of one of the first European settlements in the Americas, La Navidad (1492–1493), as well as the first proper town, La Isabela (1493–1500), and the first permanent settlement, the current capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo (est. 1498). These settlements were founded successively during each of Christopher Columbus’s first three voyages.[9][10][11][12]
The Spanish Empire controlled the entire island of Hispaniola from the 1490s until the 17th century, when French pirates began establishing bases on the western side of the island. The official name was La Española, meaning “The Spanish (Island)”. It was also called Santo Domingo, after Saint Dominic.
